On PokeCommunity, some of you may have seen my hack, Pokémon DarkViolet. It's basically my own remake of the 1st Generation games, since I didn't like some of the decisions chosen on FR/LG. But recently I've thought about maybe doing it on Gold, because then I would be able to play it on my DS with a real-time clock feature, but if I do it on Ruby/Emerald then I won't be able to have things like Day/Night Pokemon. Besides, retro is awesome. So here's all I've managed to do so far:
All characters will use their Gen III designs.
...what, were you expecting a SNES?
Gonna try and stay as accurate as the GBA DarkViolet, since there's a possibility that I may end up doing it on GBC altogether. Thus, as with the other DarkViolet, Never Been Kissed plays on TV instead of that other movie, and every sign and such will say whatever I made them say in DarkViolet.
ZOMG THE HOUSES ARE RED. Well duh, they're red in DarkViolet. (ignore Oak in the corner; I'm having some scripting trouble)
At this point, it's just a side project, as I have yet to ultimately decide how I will do my planned hack series (Pokemon Saga). If I can never figure out how to insert custom music into Gold, then I definitely won't be doing a GBC hack.

This looks great.
And out of curiosity, why is using the current Kanto music out of question?
Because to my ears, it detracts from the Kanto experience. The G/S/C Kanto music was composed with "return to Kanto" in mind, while the R/G/B Kanto music was composed with "explore the brand new Kanto region" in mind. So I want the "explore the brand new Kanto region" feeling, which can't be attained with things like missing songs, and songs in different keys.
Not to mention Cerulean/Fuschia City, Power Plant/Rocket Base, Cinnabar Mansion, and several other songs don't exist in G/S/C at all.

I liked Kanto's original music from R/B/Y/G more, but they couldn't include it in G/S/C because of space limitations.

That’s not true. GSC has gobs of free space.
They certainly wanted to recompose the Kanto music. I suspect the reason they left out a few songs was due to deadlines.

I guess that's possible too. I just said that because I read somewhere that space was the reason they didn't include the music.
