Is there a way to insert newer sprites in Pokemon Crystal? I know agixp4.1 can be used in Gold, so how about Crystal.

A help from you will be usefull thanks.

Re: Pokemon Crystal <help>

I've a feeling I've got the answer for you but I can't access my pc now and don't want to write all of it with a phone either. I'll try to remember to get back to this later.

P.S
Nice to see another supporter here

Re: Pokemon Crystal <help>

A bit of knowledge about hex editing and pointers is required

Here are the battle sprites in Crystal: http://www.romendo.net/stag019/pokedex/ … hp?crystal

I believe G/S/C all use the same compression format so basically, you can insert your sprites in Gold/Silver and then copy them to blank space in Crystal rom. After that, find the pointer to the original sprite you want to replace and change it to point to the new sprite. I don't know the offset where a table of pokemon palettes begin in Crystal but it should be similar to that of in Gold/Silver.

Not the easiest thing to be done but yet, not one of the most difficult tasks either.

Re: Pokemon Crystal <help>

Basically this is what you need to do:
1) Insert the sprite in G/S rom
2) Copy the data of that sprite in blank space in Crystal rom
3) Calculate the pointer to that offset where you copied the sprite
4) Find the pointer to the sprite you want to replace (this is why I showed you the link to the battle sprites)

For example:
Ho-Oh's front sprite is at 0x1205EE-0x12089A and so the pointer to the sprite has to be EE 45 (and if you add the bank to it, 48 EE 45 or EE 45 48 depending on where the bank -byte is located related to the pointer). Next, search for the pointer.

5) Change the pointer to the one you calculated in 3).

Re: Pokemon Crystal <help>

A great help and easy to understand, a lot of thanks! I tried to do this but copying of data was a bit clueless, but I'll search the forum. Thanks again Miksy91.

Cheers.

Impossible, even in theory because Crystal's scripting codes vary a little bit of those of Gold/Silver. However, implementing battle tower in Gold/Silver by writing all the data yourself is not impossible but no one would really want to do this.
